The idea in one paragraph

A color negative stores the scene as density on three dye layers, behind an orange mask. OpenEnlarge measures that density in logarithmic space, removes the mask, reconstructs the positive with a film-faithful tone curve, and only then applies your edits. Because the math matches the physics of film and paper, colors land where they should — across a whole roll, consistently.
